Fine Tune Your Knowledge About Impotence Treatment

Gone are the days of sneaky glances accompanied by an uneasy silence when anyone talked about erectile dysfunction (ED) or male impotence. Till the 1980s, impotence was labelled as a psychological problem. But later findings proved that it is caused by lack of blood flow into the penis. Then came the elite pool of anti-ED prescription drugs - Viagra in 1998, and Cialis and Levitra in 2003. While you must have already skimmed off the most pertinent information about the three medicines, let's just venture into some offbeat areas about them.
Did you know...?
  • Viagra works best and fast without meals that contain a high amount of fat. Gobbling a double down cheesy chicken fillet a couple of hours before taking the Viagra pill will make your body slow to react with the medicine and you may not get the desired erection. If you have to take fatty food, take it at least 2 hours before you wish to have sexual activities.
  • Viagra can be a failure at the first attempt to have sex but many men have reported that the drug helps get an erection the next time. So don't give up. Keep trying. But remember, don't just take more than one blue pill on a single day.
  • Some active ingredients of Cialis remain inside your body for more than 2 days. It can be cause for concern if they stay any longer. Talk to your physician and stop sexual activities straight away, especially if you experience chest pain, nausea or dizziness during sex.
  • Back pains or muscle aches are fairly common side effects of Cialis. But they usually disappear in a couple of days.
  • It's a common misconception that Cialis is a male birth control pill. It is not.
  • Tadalafil, which is the active ingredient of Cialis, is also sold under the brand name Adcirca. Adcirca treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) only. Don't take Cialis if you also take Adcirca.
  • Levitra can cause, although rarely, vision and hearing problems. Call your doctor immediately.
  • Smaller doses of Levitra are recommended for you when you are taking alpha blockers for treating prostrate conditions.
  • Medications such as erythromycin, ritonavir, atazanavir and itraconazole require smaller doses of Levitra with extended time gap between two doses.
  • Levitra is not suitable for you if your blood pressure is uncontrollably high.
Impotence treatments - break the ice
Success of impotence treatments is based on patient-doctor cooperation. So don't hesitate to talk about your problems with your doctor. Also, let your partner know that you are facing difficulties in getting hard and satisfactory erections. Unless you talk about your problem, nobody will get any clue as to what is wrong with you. Many relationships come to the brink of disaster not because the male partners are impotent, but because they do not show enough courage to tell their female partners about their problem.
