Answers To Atkins And Ketosis Revealed

In olden times, fat was thought to be attractive and a sign of wealth. However, times have drastically changed. The rush is on to look like television personalities, models, or Hollywood stars. However in the rush to look good, the majority of people are missing the point:
Body fat is unhealthy.
Obesity which is commonly thought to be more that 25% body fat for men and 32% for women affects 1 in 3 Americans. Medical research has shown that obesity is a major threat to disease fighting and overall good health.
Having too much fat has been associated with physical problems such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and many more. It boils down to the choices you are making when you are young are affecting your lifespan.
Obesity afflicted people also usually have high cholesterol, which is a precursor to arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. When the arteries become clogged, many vital organs become deprived of blood which will lead to life threatening problems. Also the heart has to work much harder to pump blood through which will raise the blood pressure. High blood pressure can lead to problems such as heart attack, kidney problems, stroke and more.
Clinical studies have found a relationship between excess body fat and the incidence of cancer. By itself, body fat is thought to be a storage place for carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals) in both men and women. In women, excess body fat has been linked to a higher rate of breast and uterine cancer; in men, the threat comes from colon and prostate cancer.
Obesity also causes the pancreas to produce more insulin than needed, resulting in the inability to regulate blood sugar. This inability can result in diabetes, which can have consequences such as heart disease, blindness, amputation of limbs and death.
Having too much body fat is also linked to stomach problems such as ulcers, gall bladder problems, osteoarthritis, sexual problems, and stroke.
While looking good is a fine reason to begin a weight loss program, the truth is you may be saving your life by reducing the fat on your body. I can't think of a better reason than that to exercise and eat right, can you?
