"With proper interview techniques, the diagnosis can be established. However, the interview can only be performed by a psychiatrist (specialist psychiatric)," said Nurmiati a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (08/13/2014).

On the other hand, such as psychological examination should not be performed to diagnose the presence of bipolar disorder. Because the test is not intended to help diagnose mental disorders, but to know the personality.
Furthermore, Nurmiati explained, mental disorders are classified into five axis. One axis is a mental disorder, is a personality disorder two axis, three axis is physical, is a four axis stressors (stressors), and is a five axis capability.
"For a two-axis, we need to perform tests to determine personality. However, for one axis, a careful interview alone can," he said.
Mood changes are not always mark a person with bipolar disorder. Because, mood changes can also be triggered by acute stress occurs rapidly but can be overcome.
